Many ancient religions expected worshippers to sacrifice their children as a way to earn a god's favor or turn away punishment. But our God had the opposite plan all along - giving his own son to clean up our sins, proving once and for all that God's love is enough for us. Death and life are at the heart of the gospel. We give up our own life-control to learn that God is in control, and his goodness is everything we need. That’s what gives us courage for necessary change in our lives, even when it is frightening!
